Alabama A-Club Lockers of Legacy Initiative

TO ALL ALABAMA FOOTBALL LETTERMEN:

Although more than 30 years separated our playing days at The University of Alabama, we share one special attribute – to have proudly worn the Crimson & White.

Like you, we’ve "been there, done that" – on the practice fields, in the meeting rooms, in Bryant-Denny, in Legion Field, and in stadiums all across the country.

Perhaps, though, some of our most indelible memories as Crimson Tide players came in the locker room. We all remember the playful antics of teammates before and after practices. But there is nothing like the few minutes together with players and coaches after a big win or even a tough loss. The thrill of victory shared with tired, hurting, often bleeding teammates brought big grins to our faces, and the realization that the physical and mental price we paid to get here was well worth the effort. Even sharing the agony of defeat with the team forged unbreakable bonds as we realized there was still work left to do.

Suppose our locker room days weren’t over? Suppose we had a way for our names to be displayed above a locker, or perhaps a way to honor or memorialize someone special to us?

That opportunity is here! We are honored to be the co-chairmen of the Lockers of Legacy Initiative. Our goal is to have the naming rights sold for every Game Day Locker in the Bryant-Denny Stadium home dressing room, and every Practice Locker in the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility football dressing room. In all, that is 238 lockers.

Before this initiative goes public to the Alabama donor and fan base, Director of Athletics Bill Battle wants to give all Tide football lettermen first chance at securing naming rights to these lockers. Proceeds will go toward improving and keeping Alabama athletics facilities – including Bryant-Denny Stadium – in championship condition. Furthermore, 10 percent of all locker naming rights gifts from football lettermen will go back to the A-Club Alumni Association to help expand A-Club membership and to support its three primary causes (or areas of development):

1. The Alabama A-Club Educational & Charitable Foundation

2. The A-Club Endowed Scholarship Program, and

3. The Susan & Gaylon McCollough A-Club Career Development & Leadership Center

Information on the Lockers of Legacy Initiative is detailed in the linked brochure below. You can also visit the Lockers of Legacy information page (www.alabamaaclub.com/lockers) to find an updated list of participants.

Please don’t delay. Ensure your locker today!

Thanks and Roll Tide!
